QICSS receives $12,000 Recovery Fund Grant
Community Services Recovery Fund grant will support QICSS capacity-building
Quadra Island Conservancy and Stewardship Society is excited to share that we’ve received a $12,000 grant from the Government of Canada’s Community Services Recovery Fund, administered by the Quadra Island Foundation. This funding will support QICSS to build our capacity as an organization to protect and steward the land in the Discovery Islands through conservation covenants, land acquisition, and hands-on community engagement.
We’re already putting this funding to good use. Two local residents, Emily Keller and Alex Etchell, have been hired to carry out the work associated with this grant. Emily will be working on strengthening QICSS’ internal systems and operations, including developing a strategic plan, launching a new website with support from local web designer Sarah James, creating a board handbook, and improving financial systems. Alex will be working to engage local Quadra Island residents in hands-on habitat stewardship, including organizing several events.
QICSS thanks the Government of Canada and Quadra Island Foundation for their support.
