• Colin Chapman

  DIRECTOR AT LARGE
  
  Colin has just retired to the north end of Quadra Island at Bold Point. He received his joint Ph.D. in the Anthropology and Biology at the University of Alberta and went on to a productive career at several universities. Colin is Canada Research Chair, a Killam Research Fellow, a fellow of the Royal Society of Canada, a fellow at Humboldt Foundation, and is on the board of African Wildlife Foundation. He loves nature and is now dedicated to protecting and restoring the beauty of our island.

• Emily Keller

  DIRECTOR AT LARGE (She/Her)

  Emily grew up on Read Island and Quadra Island. She has a Master’s degree in Environmental Studies and 10 years' experience in non-profit leadership, most recently as Executive Director at the Environmental Youth Alliance, an organization delivering land-based education for youth from equity-seeking communities. Emily lives in Heriot Bay with her partner and dog and loves to hike Quadra’s many trails, grow and preserve food, and go on sailing adventures.

• Michael Mascall

CHAIR (He/Him)

Michael was the founding chair of QICSS and develops covenants for ecological protection. He's active in other community endeavours: tennis instructor, yoga teacher, community centre events, May Day and the celebration of Hilary Stewart. Provincially, he was chair of the Sierra Club, treasurer of the Habitat Acquisition Trust, founding director of the BC Land Trust Alliance, and participant in the CORE land use process for Vancouver Island and Quadra Island.

  SECRETARY

  Pat moved to Quadra in 2014 after retiring from Canadian Pacific Railway as Manager in the IT department. Her volunteer experience includes secretary for QICSS, secretary for the Ladies Auxiliary at the Quadra legion since 2019, board member and part time office manager for Quadra Circle and volunteer at Quadra Elementary School with the Learn to Read program. Pat lives in the Cove, has 2 dogs, and is a yoga enthusiast and a mosaic artist.
